Disappointed, June 16, 2010 By Consumer (NY) - See all my reviews This review is from: 10' Tan Half Patio Umbrella with Stand Market Umbrella Decor I ordered the 10' tan half patio umbrella w/ stand. Unfortunately when it was delivered the base was missing parts and not able to be used (e.g. the box included the base bottom and 1 screw) since there was no post to hold the umbrella pole. I filed a claim the same day it was received. 19 days later I have called the supplier 2 additional times and still do not have the parts so I can use the umbrella. I was going to order a second umbrella and base but after this experience I will not. I was given a Federal Express tracking number today and when I checked Fed Ex the shipment was entered but never picked up from the warehouse. So...where are my parts so I can finally use my umbrella and base?

I bought this umbrella thinking just that.
It broke the first time I opened it. Where the lower, short support connects to one of the long arms that support the canvas(where a screw goes through and the tubular metal is pinched together), the long arm broke. I'm going to call this a design flaw, as each arm is this way, and it makes for a weak point that can't possibly hold up to much stress.
Also, it comes with no instructions on how to assemble it. Luckily, there was not a lot to do and it was fairly simple to put together.
Luckily, the seller was great. All they asked was for me to send them photos of the break, and I had a refund within 72 hours, no messing with returning it either. Of course, now I have to find a way to dispose of it... but that won't be a huge hassle.

Crank on backside of poll not front, August 30, 2010 By Miss Deuce (California) - See all my reviews This review is from: 10' Tan Half Patio Umbrella with Stand Market Umbrella Decor I purchased two of these half umbrellas for my back patio, which gets full mid-day/afternoon sun. I thought they would be perfect to create some shade up against the house windows. Unfortunately, both umbrellas have the crank mechanism positioned on the backside of the poll (right up against the windows) and the poll can't be turned around. The slightest wind moves it quite a bit. The photo in the Amazon ad shows the crank in the front of the umbrella poll, which allows it to be pretty flush up against the building, so I don't know what happened with these two units, but both are going back. Also, the ad says they are 10' high, but the bottom edge of the fabric when open is actually around 7.5'-8'. And, the fabric is very thin--okay for shade but not for rain.
